October is Manufacturing Month, and Wisconsin is celebrating in a big way. There are many facility tours and presentations planned in communities throughout the month dedicated to celebrating the industry that made Wisconsin the powerhouse it is today.
Wisconsin’s manufacturing heritage stretches back generations, from its roots in heavy-equipment manufacturing and paper-making in the 19th century to today’s advanced manufacturers who produce cutting-edge, innovative products. The Badger State’s manufacturing sector contributes nearly $50 billion a year to Wisconsin’s economy and ranks second in the country in the relative size of its manufacturing sector, which employs more than 450,000 workers.
