Political Update: Republican Race for Governor Advances; Milwaukee Mayor Appointed to Ambassadorship
Last month, we reported on two key congressional races that Wisconsin will host in 2022. The state will also hold statewide elections for governor, lieutenant governor, and attorney general. With Governor Tony Evers seeking reelection in 2022, Republicans are likely to have a contested primary for their party’s gubernatorial nomination. Meanwhile, Milwaukee may soon have a new mayor for the first time since 2004.

Senate Floor Calendar for September 28
The Senate will convene at 11 AM. Notably, the Senate will vote on more than 30 of Governor Tony Evers’ (D) appointments to various state agencies, boards, and commissions, including several agency heads.

Assembly Floor Calendar for September 28
The Assembly will convene at 1 PM. Notably, the Assembly will vote on a joint resolution that describes principles and standards that Republican legislative leaders plan to use when drawing new political maps for the state based on the national census conducted last year.

Wisconsin COVID-19 Update: State Employees Must Vaccinate or Test Weekly; State, Milwaukee Fund Vaccine Incentives
As of September 27, Wisconsin had administered about 6.34 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines, with 3.1 million Wisconsin residents or 53.5 percent of the state’s population fully vaccinated. Beginning October 18, Wisconsin state employees, interns, and contractors who have not verified their COVID-19 vaccination status with the state or who have confirmed that they are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will be required to undergo weekly testing for the disease.
