| | Governor Acts on Remaining Legislation | |
The 2025-26 regular legislative session has concluded, and legislators have headed back to their districts to start preparing for campaign season. However, the last several weeks have been filled with action over in the East Wing, as hundreds of bills have been sent to him for his review. Many were signed into law, while many others (some expected some not) were vetoed.

| Wisconsin Voters Cement Liberal Majority on State Supreme Court | | |
Wisconsin voters delivered a decisive result in the state’s latest Supreme Court race, electing Judge Chris Taylor and expanding the liberal majority on the state’s highest court. Taylor defeated conservative Court of Appeals Judge Maria Lazar by roughly 20 percentage points, one of the largest margins in a Wisconsin Supreme Court contest in decades.

| | Projected Medicaid shortfall increases through end of biennium | | |
DHS released an updated Medicaid budget projection showing the program is now expected to face a $263.5 million GPR shortfall by June 30, 2027, the end of the 2025–27 biennium. This is 2.7% above the spending levels assumed in the enacted budget and approximately $50 million higher than the $213.2 million deficit projected earlier this year.

Reps. Robert Brooks (R-Saukville) and Jerry O'Connor (R-Fond Du Lac) have announced they will not seek reelection to the Wisconsin State Assembly in 2026, adding to a growing list of lawmakers who plan to leave the Legislature at the end of the current term.
