PSCW Holds Electric Vehicles Workshop

On Dec. 5, the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSCW) held a workshop on electric vehicles (EVs). The workshop is part of PSCW's investigation of EV policy and regulation, an investigative docket that PSCW approved in February 2019. According to the notice, input at the workshop will be used to inform future PSCW action in 2020.
 
 
Rep. Neubauer Releases Climate Change Package

Last week, Rep. Greta Neubauer (D-Racine) released a package of bills to address climate change in Wisconsin. The "Forward on Climate" package addresses carbon emissions, investment in renewable energy, weatherization, and sustainable farming.
 

AG Kaul Joins Emissions Standards Lawsuit

Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul has joined a coalition of states and cities seeking judicial review of the federal rules related to vehicle emissions standards.
 
 
PFAS Update: WI Agency Advisory Council Meets, EPA Action

In addition to last month's comment period on the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) initial scope statements seeking to regulate PFAS, Wisconsin and federal agencies are continuing to progress toward regulation of these substances. At the state level, Gov. Tony Evers has convened a multi-agency advisory council to address PFAS. At the federal level, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is seeking public comment on proposed rulemaking. A bill is also moving in the state Legislature.
 
PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) are man-made chemicals found in many everyday products, including nonstick pans, cleaning products, paints, and firefighting foam.
 
 
Latest MU Poll Finds Changes in Voter Opinion on Impeachment, Wisconsin Gov. and Legislature

After a newsworthy month in both the state and federal government, the latest Marquette University (MU) Law School poll asked 801 Wisconsin voters their opinions on state and national politicians. The November poll covers approval of President Donald Trump amid impeachment proceedings, approval of Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers and the state legislature after several contentious floor sessions, and voters' top choices in the 2020 Democratic primary for president.
 
 
UPDATED: Wis. Congressional Candidates: Who's In and Who's Out

Two Republicans and two Democrats are on the ballot for the Feb. 18, 2020 primary in the 7th Congressional District.

 
Latest Bills Signed & Vetoed by Gov. Evers

After the Legislature met for floor sessions in early November, Gov. Tony Evers signed almost 50 new bills into law. Gov. Evers also vetoed several bills that the Legislature had passed and sent to him for review.
 
Supreme Court Candidates Debate at Forum

On Nov. 19, all three candidates running in the spring Wisconsin Supreme Court election met for the first forum of the campaign. The winner of the spring election will serve a ten-year term beginning in 2020. Two candidates - Dane County Circuit Court Judge Jill Karofsky and Marquette University Law School professor Ed Fallone - are challenging incumbent Justice Daniel Kelly for the seat.
