EAU CLAIRE — Xcel Energy announced it is proposing a new plan to reduce carbon emissions by over 80% in the Upper Midwest.

According to the press release announcing the proposal, it is an extension of Xcel’s plan to replace coal plants with renewable energy by 2030. The plan will use an estimated 5.7 billion dollars in tax credit savings from the Inflation Reduction Act to keep the rates for Xcel customers low.
