MADISON (WLUK) -- New COVID-19 cases in Wisconsin continued to decline over the weekend.

The state Department of Health Services reported 443 new confirmed cases on Sunday, the fewest in a single day since Sept. 11. The seven-day average of new cases fell to 1,135, the lowest since Aug. 12.

Test positivity fell to a seven-day average of 6.8%, the lowest level since July 30.

No deaths were reported on Sunday, with the seven-day average at 12.

All but two Wisconsin counties remained in the "high" category for virus transmission, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Iron and Taylor counties in northwestern Wisconsin were listed in the "substantial" category, one level lower.

Since the pandemic began, there have been 1,376,791 total cases and 11,739 deaths.

As of Monday, 63.8% of the state's population had received at least one dose of vaccine, and 60.2% had completed the vaccine series.

Hospitalizations also declined. The Wisconsin Hospital Association reported treating 689 COVID-19 patients on Monday, six fewer than on Sunday and 195 fewer than a week earlier. It was the fewest since Aug. 17. Of those, 138 were in intensive care, down four in a day and 33 over a week.

Northeast region hospitals had 73 COVID-19 patients, down nine in a day and 39 over a week. Of those, 12 were in ICUs, down three in a day and 13 over a week. In the Fox Valley region, there were 51 COVID-19 patients, three fewer than on Sunday and five fewer than a week earlier. Nine of those were in ICUs, up two in a day but down one over a week.
