LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - Representative Derrick Van Orden officially announced his run for the House of Representatives on Saturday.
He made the announcement at his new headquarters at the Village Shopping Center in La Crosse. He addressed his plans for Congress to a group of enthusiasts and supporters.
Along with touching on economic and agricultural issues, Van Orden stressed the importance of working together as Americans, regardless of status.
"I went to D.C. to solves problems, and how you do that is here. I'll be honest, I thought I was over here originally, but I got to D.C. and realized I'm not because they're not doing anything. The federal government can actually be helpful, but you've got to work together. Politics is about addition, not subtraction."
The election for U.S. Congress will be held in November.
