WAPA Holds PA Day at the Capitol

On Wednesday, Nov. 1, physician assistants (PAs) from across the state gathered for the Wisconsin Academy of Physician Assistants (WAPA) “PA Day at the Capitol.”

PAs met with their legislators to share information about their profession and WAPA. In addition, the legislative day participants explained to legislators some of the current challenges facing PAs in Wisconsin. The legislators heard a bit about legislation WAPA is working on to modernize the PA practice in Wisconsin. The legislation, which has not been introduced, is currently being shared with other stakeholders for feedback.

PAs also informed legislators about WAPA’s work on opioid abuse prevention through the Campaign for Pain, a PA driven safe opioid prescribing project.
