Walmart Capitol Day 2017

Walmart Capitol Day 2017

Walmart held its annual Wisconsin Capitol Day on April 5 with store managers, regional managers, market managers and assistants from around the state.

The all-day event began with a welcome from Speaker Pro Tempore Tyler August (R-Lake Geneva) and Sen. Minority Leader Jennifer Shilling (D-La Crosse). Following the legislators’ welcome, attendees were given a briefing on pertinent legislation, an update on recent activity in the Capitol and information on what to expect when visiting with legislators later in the day. Later in the day, attendees heard the legislative viewpoint of Sen. David Craig (R-Vernon) and heard from Rep. John Macco (R-Green Bay) on effective legislative meetings. Over lunch, Department of Workforce Development Secretary Ray Allen and Joe Quinn of Walmart Corporate Affairs spoke about growing American jobs and the workforce of the future.

Following the speakers, attendees met with nearly 50 legislators in the Wisconsin Capitol.

Walmart ended with day with a reception featuring Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch and the Sasquatch from Jack Link’s, one of Walmart’s top products.
