Gov. Walker has ordered a special election on December 4, 2012 to fill the seat of retiring State Sen. Rich Zipperer. The order also states that if a primary is necessary, it is to be held on November 6.
Zipperer, who resigned in order to become the governor’s deputy chief of staff, is the most recent of a line of Republicans that have represented the 33rd District. And there is no shortage of Republicans lining up to take his place, as two GOP Assembly members have already announced plans to run for the open post, Rep. Paul Farrow of Pewaukee and Rep. Chris Kapenga of Delafield. No Democrats have thrown their hat in the ring yet.
