Assembly Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester) has announced the creation of four bipartisan legislative task forces this fall. Each task force will begin its work in the coming months and will hold public hearings to hear directly from agencies, experts, and the public before making recommendations to the Legislature. The task forces will focus on four issues.
- Government Efficiency and Modernization: This task force will explore how Wisconsin can use modern technology, including artificial intelligence (AI), to improve state government operations. Rep. Jim Piwowarczyk (R-Hubertus) will chair the task force.
- Protecting Children Online: Led by Rep. Lindee Brill (R-Sheboygan Falls), this task force aims to address rising youth mental health crises and the negative impacts of social media and unrestricted internet access.
- Elder Services: Rep. Patrick Snyder (R-Weston) is set to chair this task force dedicated to examining elder services in the state.
- Rulemaking: Rep. Brent Jacobson (R-Mosinee) will chair this task force, which will focus on reworking Wisconsin’s rulemaking process. The task force was formed in response to a state Supreme Court ruling that reduced the legislature’s power to block agency rules.
Vos stated that the goal is to pass legislation from the task force recommendations before the Assembly adjourns in 2026.
