Vos and Barca Discuss Upcoming Legislative Session & Elections

WisconsinEye’s Steve Walters interviewed Assembly Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester) and Minority Leader Peter Barca (D-Kenosha) on August 7, 2013 at the state Capitol. The two leaders discussed many different topics, including, same-sex marriage decisions, what they would like to see in the new University of Wisconsin system president, healthcare, drunk driving, raw milk, personhood, and the fall legislative session generally.

The conversation also covered protests in the rotunda and the 2014 elections. Barca said he will not run against Republican Governor Scott Walker next year. Barca also said a 2014 primary election between two potential Democratic candidates, Kathleen Vinehout and Madison School Board member Mary Burke, may not be a bad thing for the party that wants to defeat Walker next year.
