UW Police Hold Operation Wisconsin Dawn

The University of Wisconsin-Madison Police Department and a number of university, city, county, state, and federal agencies will be holding a full-scale exercise on Thursday July 17, from 5 AM to 5 PM.

The exercise, taking place at Camp Randall Stadium, will be the largest emergency response exercise in the state’s history. Agencies involved in the exercise will include Madison Fire & Police Departments, Dane County Sheriff Office & Emergency Management, Department of Justice, FBI, US Attorney’s Office, UW Hospital, and Meriter Hospital. Around 400 people are expected to participate in the simulation.

A UWPD press release warned neighbors in the Camp Randall area to expect an explosive sound at 7:00 AM on July 17, and emergency vehicles and lights until 10 AM, and acting victims with fake blood and injuries. The purpose of the the exercise is to prepare the University for an actual crisis.
