Tip McGuire to Replace Barca in AD 64

Democrat Tip McGuire won the special election on April 30 to replace former Rep. Peter Barca in Assembly District 64. Gov. Tony Evers appointed Barca Department of Revenue secretary earlier this year. McGuire beat Republican Mark Stalker 62 percent to 38 percent in the general election after winning the three-way Democratic primary for the seat earlier in April. McGuire’s win retains the 63-36 Republican majority in the Assembly.

McGuire is an assistant district attorney in Milwaukee County and previously worked for Barca in the state capitol. He grew up in the Racine area and attended Marquette University and University of Wisconsin law school.
