State Senate
Wisconsin’s updated legislative maps have led to a reduced majority for Senate Republicans. Out of the Senate’s 33 seats, 16 were contested in this election. The Republicans now hold 18 seats, while the Democrats hold 15 seats.
State Assembly
The newly drawn redistricting maps have narrowed the previously secure Republican majorities. As of early this morning, the Assembly stands at 52 Republicans and 43 Democrats with four races undetermined. These results are likely to foster a new dynamic in the Assembly, potentially creating a greater need for bipartisan compromise on key issues.
