Wisconsin Assembly Examines AI and Data-Center Growth

On Wednesday, November 5, the Assembly Committee on Science, Technology & Artificial Intelligence convened an informational hearing to examine the rapid growth of artificial-intelligence (AI) technologies and the implications of large-scale data-center developments in Wisconsin. The session provided a deep dive into how the state can position itself for digital-infrastructure investment while balancing energy, workforce, environmental and community concerns.

Assembly Task Forces Take Up Issues Ranging from Elder Care to Government Modernization

The Wood County Sheriff's office highlighted growing concerns about cryptocurrency kiosks.

This fall, the Wisconsin Assembly launched a series of task forces to examine a range of policy areas impacting communities statewide. Established by Assembly Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester), the groups are exploring topics such as supporting older adults, improving government operations, reviewing administrative rulemaking processes, and promoting child safety in the digital age. The task forces have begun holding public hearings to gather input from stakeholders and will present findings and recommendations later in the legislative session.

Gov. Evers Signs 19 Bills, Issues Several Vetoes

Gov. Tony Evers signed 19 bills into law on Friday, October 31, advancing a range of bipartisan measures related to public safety, mental health response, transportation, and government operations. He also issued vetoes on several others, including Senate Bill 25.

DHS Submits $1 Billion Proposal to Strengthen Rural Health Care Access

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services has submitted an application for $1 billion in federal funding through the Rural Health Transformation Program to expand access to high-quality health services in rural parts of the state. The proposal focuses on three main areas: workforce development, technology and innovation, and care transformation through partnerships.
