Meet the New Senators-Elect

Senate Republicans have expanded their margin to 21-12 by picking up two Democrat seats and assuming Republicans will successfully defend Senator Fitzgerald’s seat after he vacates it. Overall, for the 2021-22 legislative session, there will be eight “freshman” Senators, including five Republicans and three Democrats. This incoming group includes several familiar faces of former Assembly representatives, a past candidate for governor and the former DATCP Secretary.

Meet the new members below:

Joan Ballweg (R – Markesan)	Senate District 14	Elected to Assembly since 2004. Leadership positions: Majority Caucus Chair 2013, 2011 Served as the co-chair of the Joint Committee for the Review of Administrative Rules Co-owner of farm equipment business.
Julian Bradley (R- Franklin)	Senate District 28	Served as chairman of the Republican Party of La Crosse County and to the Wisconsin GOP executive committee Manager at a telecommunications firm
Mary Felzkowski (R – Irma)	Senate District 12	Elected to Assembly since 2012 Leadership positions: Assistant Majority Leader 2019 Currently an insurance agency owner
Brad Pfaff (D – La Crosse)	Senate District 32	Former Secretary-designee of the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection Served on the La Crosse County Board of Supervisors Held leadership positions with USDA Farm Service Agency
Kelda Roys (D – Madison)	Senate District 26	Served in the Assembly from 2009- 2011 Small business owner, attorney and served as the Executive Director of NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin
Melissa Sargent (D – Madison)	Senate District 16	Elected to Assembly since 2012 Previously served on the on the Dane County Board of Supervisors and was a small business owner
Rob Stafsholt (R – New Richmond)	Senate District 10	Elected to Assembly since 2017 Small business owner, including running a waste disposal company
Eric Wimberger (R – De Pere)	Senate District 30	Served in the United States Marine Corps Attorney and owns a law practice
