Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker recently appointed Nicolas Harsy to the UW Board of Regents, filling the position as the non-traditional student representative.
Harsy, a junior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, is a former Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, serving two tours in Afghanistan and receiving multiple awards for his service. He now pursues a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
The Office of the Governor issued a press release regarding the appointment, praising Harsy’s character. It stated, “Nicolas has proven dedication to service and his natural leadership skills will make him a valuable asset to the Board.”
This appointment will be effective starting May 1st as he received unanimous approval by the State Senate.
