Get to Know a Freshman

Thirteen new members were voted into the Wisconsin Legislature on November 9. There will be two fresh faces in the Wisconsin Senate, Sens. – elect Patrick Testin (R-Marinette) and Dan Feyen (R-Fond du Lac). Also, joining the Senate from the Assembly will be Reps. Dave Craig (R- Big Bend) and LaTonya Johnson (D-Milwaukee).

The State Assembly has 11 new representatives (seven Republicans, four Democrats). New representatives – elect include Ron Tusler (R-Harrison), Jason Fields (D-Glendale), David Crowley (D-Milwaukee), Rob Stafsholt (R-New Richmond), Shannon Zimmerman (R-River Falls), Don Vruwink (D-Milton), Jimmy Anderson (D-Fitchburg), Rob Summerfield (R-Bloomer), Chuck Wichgers (R-Muskego), Patrick Snyder (R-Schofield), and Treig Pronschinske (R-Mondovi).

To help you get acquainted with the newly elected Senators and Representatives we are reviving our segment titled, “Get to Know a Freshman.” This week, Political Tidbits highlights the two new state Senators.

Senator – elect Patrick Testin (R-Marinette)

Patrick Testin, representing District 24, was born in Madison, Wisconsin and raised in Marinette, Wisconsin. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. Throughout his time at UWSP, Patrick funded his education by working at Silvan Industries, at Aacer Flooring LLC, as a groundskeeper and maintenance man for the School District of Marinette, and at UPS. After graduation, he specialized as a sales representative for a local wine distributor. In his community, Patrick is a member of the Stevens Point Elks Lodge 641 and Ignite Leadership Network of Portage County, a young professionals branch of the United Way. He has additionally served as Chairman of the Republican Party of Portage County, Wisconsin since 2013.

Senator – elect Dan Feyen (R-Fond du Lac)

Dan Feyen is a Republican member – elect of the Wisconsin State Senate, representing District 18. He was raised in New Holstein, Wisconsin where he attended New Holstein High School. He went on to graduate from Fox Valley Technical College with a diploma in printing. After graduation, Dan was hired at EP-Direct, a printing company based in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin where he has since worked for nearly 30 years. Dan is a member and former president of the Fond du Lac Jaycees, a local charitable organization. He additionally served for nine years on the City of Fond du Lac Parks Advisory board.  In 2007 Dan became Chairman of the Republican Party of Fond du Lac County, and in 2010 he was elected chairman of the Sixth District Republican Party.
