Agencies Searching for Burdensome and Outdated Rules

Gov. Walker’s Executive Order #61 Relating to Job Creation and Small Business Expansion asks all state agencies to conduct a thorough review of  regulations, and to recommend for possible elimination, outdated and overly cumbersome regulations that provide no or little demonstrable benefit.

A similar effort last year by Michigan’s Office of Regulatory Reinvention generated a list of 79 specific recommendations, which if implemented, could eliminate over 300 existing rules.

Hamilton Consultants are monitoring all of the state agencies’ rule review efforts. The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is the first agency to reach out to the public for help in its review process. It has created a website for businesses and the general public to submit their suggestions for consideration.

Hamilton Consultants have experience drafting comments to both federal and state agencies on behalf of our clients. Should you or your organization need assistance in preparing comments, or help determining the proper parties to send suggestions to, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the Hamilton team.
