Walker Announces Re-Election Campaign

Gov. Scott Walker announced his candidacy for another term as governor of Wisconsin on Sunday, Nov. 5 at a rally in Waukesha.  According to his campaign announcement speech, he intends to run on the momentum of the University of Wisconsin tuition freeze, ending the state property tax, boosting employment rates, and the signing of the Foxconn deal. He said, “We now have more people employed in this state than we’ve ever had in the history of the state of Wisconsin. We are moving Wisconsin forward.”

He further stated that “We’re not satisfied with just where we’re at. We’re moving forward because there’s more to be done.” One of the things he wishes to accomplish after re-election is a potential tax cut. The governor is completing a tour of the state following his announcement last Sunday.

Walker faces a crowded field of Democratic challengers in his re-election effort. For updates on the 2018 governor’s race, visit our 2018 Election Issue Update.
