Editorials

End the mandate (opinion): Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, May 14, 2008. Ethanol has played only a minor role in the rise in global food prices, but government doesn't know and shouldn't dictate which alternative fuel technology would be best.

Don't Give Up on Energy Independence (opinion): Wall Street Journal, May 7, 2008. We must not let this national debate be distorted by charges that one is either pro- or anti- oil. I believe strongly that Western oil companies ought to be supported in the production of as much oil as they can, for as long as they can. Reducing our reliance on foreign oil is, however, an urgent national security priority.

Greenhouse Affect (opinion): Wall Street Journal, Feb. 13, 2008. The ink is still moist on Capitol Hill's latest energy bill and, as if on cue, a scientific avalanche is demolishing its assumptions. To wit, trendy climate-change policies like ethanol and other biofuels are actually worse for the environment than fossil fuels.
