Sept. 8, 2006
With the Sept. 12 primary just
around the corner, the headliners are the state attorney general
candidates. However, the ballot also includes a race for secretary
of state (Democratic only) and lieutenant governor (Republican
only), and we have provided a summary of the candidates below.
The governor and state treasurer races do not have a primary. Gov. Jim
Doyle will face Congressman Mark Green in the November
general election, and Democrat Dawn Marie Sass, Republican incumbent
Jack Voight, Libertarian Tim Peterson and Wisconsin Green Winston Sephus Jr.
square off in the general election for the state treasurer’s seat.
In
our July 20 issue of Political Tidbits, we provided a side-by-side
comparison of the gubernatorial candidates, and the June 16 issue
presents an
overview of the attorney general candidates.
Please see our Updates for an
overview of the 99 Assembly seats that will be decided in this fall’s
elections and the
2006 Senate Races.
