Lasee, Ripp Join the Walker Administration

Frank Lasee

On Dec. 29, 2017, Gov. Scott Walker appointed two legislators to positions within his administration. Sen. Frank Lasee (R-DePere) was named division administrator for worker’s compensation in the Department of Workforce Development and Rep. Keith Ripp (R-Lodi) was appointed to the number three position at the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection as the assistant deputy secretary.

Ripp has served in the legislature since 2008 and was chair of the Assembly Committee on Transportation, vice chair of the Committee on Local Government, and a member of the Committee on Agriculture.

Lasee was elected in the Assembly in 1994 and elected to the Senate in 2010. He served as chair of the Senate Committee on Insurance, Housing and Trade, vice chair of the Committee on Natural Resources and Energy, and as a member of the Committee on Labor and Regulatory Reform.

Both legislators resigned immediately and there will not be a special election before the regular general elections in November. Following the appointments, Rep. Andre Jacque (R-DePere) announced he will run for Lasee’s Senate seat in the general election.

There have been no announcements as to whether the legislators will be replaced on their committees.
