 ANDREW
J. FRANKEN
began his public affairs career in the Wisconsin State Legislature
as a legislative aide to the chair of the Senate Labor, Business
Insurance and Veterans and Military Affairs Committee. He advanced
in positions of increased responsibility, culminating in his
appointment as Director of the Senate Majority Caucus Staff in
1991.
Andy
joined Wausau Insurance Companies in 1995 as the company’s
government affairs representative. He was appointed Manager,
Government Affairs in September 1996, named Director, Government
Affairs in November 1997, and appointed Assistant Vice President,
Government Affairs in June 1999. He also served as treasurer of
the Wisconsin Insurance Alliance and chair of the Health
Subcommittee of the Wisconsin Association of Life and Health
Insurers.
In
March of 2000, Andy was named Director of Public Affairs for Xcel
Energy, formerly Northern States Power of Wisconsin. Xcel Energy
is the fourth largest combination gas and electric utility in the
country.
In
early 2002, Andy established Franken Consulting to provide
lobbying and grassroots services at the state and federal levels.
A
native of DePere, Wisconsin, Andy graduated from the University of
Wisconsin in 1987 with a B. A. degree in Political Science and
International Relations. He and his wife, Anne, have three
children, Patrick, Claire and William.
